Typing: produce the word, do not just recognise it
You see a word and type its translation from memory. The hardest game and the one that pays most.
There is a wide gap between recognising a word in a list and being able to write it when you need it. This game closes that gap: no options, no hints — you either produce it or you do not.
How to play
- A word from your vocabulary appears.
- You type its translation.
- You check: if you got it wrong, you see the answer before moving on.
What it trains
Active production and spelling at once. This is the game that exposes what you only think you know: plenty of words you recognise on sight turn out not to be available when you have to type them.
Which is why it pairs well with recognition games like multiple choice: one measures breadth, this one measures depth. All the games
FAQ
- Do accents and capitals count?
- Spelling matters — it is part of what you are practising. If you miss, the correct form is shown so you see it written properly before continuing.
- Is it too hard to start with?
- It is demanding at first. Use it with words you have already reviewed a few times, and leave brand-new ones to flashcards.
