Pair match: join each word to its translation
A board of pairs to clear. The most visual game, and the one that works best when you are in a hurry.
Pair matching is the format that least feels like studying and the one most people finish. You get a board with words on one side and translations on the other, and you close pairs until it is empty.
How to play
- A board is dealt with words and their translations shuffled.
- You tap a word, then its match.
- When the board is clear, you see how many mistakes you made.
What it trains
Recognition speed. Unlike the one-question-at-a-time games, here you are working against a whole board: the words you hesitate on are left standing at the end and are obvious at a glance.
It makes a good warm-up before a harder game, and a good way to spot which of your words are still weak without reviewing them one by one. All the games
FAQ
- How many pairs per board?
- You choose before starting. Small boards for a quick pass, larger ones for a longer session.
- Is there a penalty for mistakes?
- It does not end the round: at the end you see how many pairs you closed and with how many mistakes, which is the useful part.
